Glass Gems

D I adore the Dollar Store. Yes, there is cheap junk there, but there are fun little basics there too. I try to think outside of the box when it comes to items from there. You can get decent service ware there. Plates, glasses, bowls, mugs… Candle sticks, vases, candle plates… Cheap craft items too. I took several items from and made these super pretty dollar store candle vases that rock my beachy room look. Let’s start with two vases, silicone glue (it’s ju
st caulk in silicone form) and several bags of marbles – whatever colors you want. I went with blue and clear to go well with my room. MIGHT I MENTION: These beautiful candle vases would look stunning outside in the evening at dusk set up on your patio. They are pretty perfect for outdoor use, and wind would not be able to move these sturdy vases. The vases and marbles are from the Dollar Store. The glue from a mega-store. Begin by adding either a dot or a line of glue. As I went on, I found that a line of glue was easier to work with. Place your stones along the edge of the bottom. Continue placing stones, I added the next line in the space between the lower line of marbles. They stack well resting on the bottom two stones. Once the vase is as covered as you like, allow the glue to dry for a couple of days. Then, take a bit of twine and wrap the vases with it, securing with a knot. Time to fill! I used sand (you can find small bags at the aquarium store or in pet supply) or at the hardware store. I then added some of these clam shells around a dollar votive. That is it. They are finished!
