Custom Order Light Fixture. We make one-of-a-kind, custom, glass fishing float chandeliers. The hand-blown glass floats, with hand-tied netting are suspended from beautiful, carefully selected wood. Pictured here is old river wood, which was retrieved from the bottom of the Cape Fear River. We have many pieces of unique wood with live edges and other interesting features. Seven glass fishing floats of varying colors are hung at different heights so each float can be seen and appreciated at every angle, creating visual interest. The light fixture will be made to suit your needs. You select the glass fishing floats, the wood, and hardware (bronze, brushed nickel, black, chrome, antique brass), and we will make a one-of-a-kind light fixture for your home. There are many ways to customize the light fixture. For example, for an additional fee, we can wrap the chains in rope and we can use large and medium floats in the same fixture. We also make 5-piece and 9-piece light fixtures (please email us for quotes). We use UL-rated electrical components with 60 watt equivalent, dimmable LED light bulbs that have a life-span of 23 years. Please contact us for photos of our glass float and wood collection. Glass fishing floats originated in Norway in the 1840’s. Most of the floats washing up on beaches today are from Japan. Japanese fishermen started using them extensively from 1910 to the 1970’s. They were used to keep fishing nets afloat, but due to wear and tear of the nets, many floats escaped and drifted thousands of miles and many years in the ocean before finding their way alongshore. For the lucky and determined treasure hunter, these floats can still be found on shorelines today in Japan, Scandinavia, Alaska, Washington, and Oregon.
